ICCI joins the conversation at the Latinidades Festival

This weekend, the ICCI programmatic team was present at the Latinidades Festival in Salvador, the largest Latin American festival dedicated to black women. This year, the event brought the theme #VemSerFãdasMulheresNegras.

Our programmatic director, Ana Carolina Lourenço, attended the launch of "La Radical Imaginación Política de las Mujeres Negras Brasileñas y de Latinoamerica". This anthology, organized by her and Anielle Franco, explores the potentialities and challenges of the political work of black women.

Jheniffer Ribeiro, our ecosystems coordinator, participated in the launch of "Estamos Prontas: lições de mulheres negras lideranças coletivas nas eleições brasileiras". The book details the experiences of the project which, in 2022, strengthened 27 black leaders from all Brazilian states for the electoral race.

It was a moment of celebration, learning, and strengthening of the voices and trajectories of black women. The presence of our team at the Latinidades Festival reinforces our commitment to support and amplify the struggles and achievements of these women who, with courage and resilience, profoundly transform Brazilian realities.
